    CoDHR is looking for a current faculty member to join us as an Associate Director. The initial appointment will be for one year with the possibility of renewal, pending review, with an August 2024 starting date. Nominations are due by April 5, 2024.

CFP (Conference): 2024 Digital Pedagogy Institute (Proposals due 04/19/24)

The call for proposals for the 2024 Digital Pedagogy Institute (DPI) is now open. The goal of DPI 2024 is to create a virtual space that allows participants to explore diverse approaches to digital pedagogy from a variety of perspectives, including those of undergraduate/graduate students, faculty, librarians, educational developers, and technologists. Proposals are due by April 19, 2024. The conference is scheduled for August 13-15, 2024.

CFP (Conference Session): MLA 2025, “Prompt Engineering as Rhetoric, Literary Criticism, and Creative Writing” (Proposals due 03/10/24)

The call for proposals to a special session at MLA 2025, “Prompt Engineering as Rhetoric, Literary Criticism, and Creative Writing”, is now open. The session invites submissions that engage with how the deliberate design of prompts can serve as a critical and creative intervention in reconfiguring the relationship between AI and humans. Proposals are due by March 10, 2024. MLA 2025 is scheduled for January 9-12, 2025 in New Orleans.

CFP (Travel Scholarships): 2024 IIIF Annual Conference (Applications due 03/18/24)

The IIIF Consortium is pleased to announce two travel scholarships to attend the 2024 IIIF Annual Conference. The scholarship will provide up to $2,000 in travel funds to recipients with the goal of fostering a conference environment that reflects the diversity of the wider IIIF Community. Applications are due by March 18, 2024. The IIIF Conference is scheduled for June 4-7, 2024 in Los Angeles, CA.

Virtual Workshop (Free): “Critical Toolkits for Crowdsourcing and Community Engagement” (03/21/24)

“Critical Toolkits for Crowdsourcing and Community Engagement” is a workshop that explores the process of organizing programs and digital projects that invite school and community groups to help enrich digitized archives. This workshop is designed for teams who may wish to develop crowdsourcing transcription projects to invite communities to participate in the work of developing electronic editions. Along with exploring the most popular crowdsourcing platforms, there will be time in the workshop to start thinking practically about developing your projects and programs. The virtual workshop is scheduled for March 21, 2024 from 2:00 to 3:30 PM EST. The event is free to attend however registration is required.

CFP (Journal): Journal of Electronic Publishing, Special Issue on Publishing and Climate Change (Proposals due 04/30/24)

The Journal of Electronic Publishing is calling for proposals for a special issue on publishing and climate change. The special issue invites abstracts for papers of ~6,000-8,000 words reflecting on these issues as well as examples of best (and worst) practices of how publishers (and the industry as a whole) are tackling the current climate and ecological crises, alongside theoretical contributions on publishing’s entanglement with the climate crisis, the Anthropocene, and global capitalism. Proposals are due by April 30, 2024.

CFP (Conference): Text Encoding Initiative Consortium (TEI), 24th Annual Meeting

The call for proposals is now open for the 24th Annual Meeting of Text Encoding Initiative Consortium (TEI). The conference topic, “Texts, languages, and communities”, aims at highlighting the global outreach of the TEI together with its local adaptations and bringing us together as a diverse and multilingual community, where the exchange of experiences and shared learning will help us reflect on the texts we investigate, the languages we use, and the communities we create. The conference is scheduled for October 7-11, 2024 at Universidad del Salvador (USAL), Buenos Aires, Argentina.

CFP (Summer School): Summer School in Digital Humanities and Digital Communication, University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (Applications due 03/28/24)

Applications are open for the 6th edition of the Summer School in Digital Humanities and Digital Communication, hosted by the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. The summer school aims to provide PhD students and young researchers with methodological tools for the study of digital communication and data analysis. This year’s focus is on challenges and opportunities of interacting through technology. The summer school is scheduled for June 3-7, 2024 in Modena, Emilia Romagna, Italy. Applications are due by March 28, 2024.

CFP (Showcase): Ancient MakerSpaces, AIA/SCS 2025 (Proposals due 03/13/24)

Ancient MakerSpaces, AIA/SCS 2025 is calling for proposals for a collaborative, interactive forum showcasing digital ancient scholarship through presentations and live project demonstrations. Submissions are welcome for digital tools, platforms, repositories, or techniques for engaging with ancient texts and material culture. Whether in the context of research, outreach, or teaching, digital work in all stages of planning and completion are welcome: in-progress or unpublished builds, published projects, and those left glitching or unfinished. The showcase is scheduled for January 2-5, 2025 in Philadelphia, PA. Proposals are due by March 13, 2024.

CFP (Symposium): Texas Digital Humanities Symposium (Proposals due 03/20/24)

Proposals for 30-minute presentations are now open for the inaugural Texas Digital Humanities Symposium. The symposium seeks proposals which address any of the following aspects: DH Content: Diverse Perspectives, DH Tools: Practical Empowerment, Teaching and Classroom Integration: Real-World Impact, and Research Challenges: Navigating the Unknown. The symposium is scheduled for September 5-6, 2024 at Baylor University. Proposals are due by March 20, 2024.

CFP (Workshop): Workshop on Machine Learning for Ancient Languages (ML4AL 2024) (Proposals due 05/17/24)

February 22, 2024

Proposals are being accepted for the Workshop on Machine Learning for Ancient Languages (ML4AL 2024). The Workshop aims to inspire collaboration and support research momentum in the emerging field of Machine Learning for the study of ancient texts. Submissions which tackle low-data, underrepresented, non-Western ancient languages are welcome. The workshop will take place in a hybrid format in Bangkok, Thailand on August 15, 2024. Proposals are due by May 17, 2024.
